On Saturday the 4th of October 2015 a volunteer crew from the Southwest Conservation Corps joined volunteers from the Del Norte Trails Organization in completing the large looping trail off of Chico Drive near the Del Norte High School. This completes the first phase of trails envisioned in the “Del Norte Trails Master Plan” adopted in 2007 – the Del Norte Lookout Mountain Park Trails System. By deed and resolution this land will remain undeveloped and will be open to Bike Riders, Hikers, and Equestrians only. The goal has always been to provide Del Norte residents and visitors easy and safe access to the outdoors for health, wellness, and enjoyment. The project has been a collaboration effort by The Town of Del Norte, Rio Grande County, Rio Grande Hospital, GOCO, and a multitude of private citizens both local and from afar.
