Completing the Del Norte Trails Master Plan, the new 1.5-mile long Hi-Line Loop provides up-valley view’s toward Del Norte Peak in the San Juan Mountains and views below of the lumbering figures of bison on a local ranch. The flowy connector trail merges with an additional 8 miles of natural surface singletrack across the 200-acre, town-owned mountain park covering what locals refer to as “D Mountain.”
Goals of the Del Norte Trails Master Plan:
- To provide a sustainable trail system that connects the commercial downtown with residences, schools, churches, medical facilities and scenic areas around the town.
- To provide safe, recreational and sustainable trails for a variety of users within the community.
- Identify opportunities for trail enhancement, restoration, and new trails
